BOOKS

Actor, singer, and songwriter Tyrese Gibson crafts an inspirational memoir filled with every emotion and life experience one could possibly imagine. Pairing honest and revealing personal stories with reflective questions based on his extremely popular online messages to his “Love Circle,” Tyrese hopes to motivate readers to pursue their dreams and not let life’s obstacles stand in their way.

How to Get Out of Your Own Way is organized into a series of fundamental questions that helped Tyrese redefine who he was as a human being and evolve into a new man. Tyrese stresses the importance of understanding your environment in order to get in control of your life and become the person you want to be. "Most people have ambitions," he explains, “but they have no clear sense of direction.” He brings a level of clarity and understanding about how to get through different challenges to help you make better choices. His passion and love for his fans is evident throughout: “I want to give people permission to want better for themselves and take their lives to another level. Sometimes we just need information on how to get it done.” Providing building blocks of wisdom—collected over the years from his various mentors including Will Smith and John Hope Bryant, and gained from business and personal experiences—Tyrese guides you toward rebuilding your life and achieving your mission. Emphasizing the importance of maintaining a positive spirit and staying open to all possibilities, Tyrese provides his personal roadmap that will lead you on the way to becoming the master of your environment. Brutally honest and bold in his personal revelations, Tyrese takes you on a journey of how he got out of his own way while encouraging you to do the same.

Some of Tyrese’s question-based chapters include:
How Much Do You Love Yourself?
Are You the Master of Your Environment?
Who Are Your Five People?
Why Do Men (and Some Women) Cheat?
Do I Love You More that I Know You?
What is Your Purpose?

Insightful, inspiring, and full of infectious positive energy, "How to Get Out of Your Own Way" will help you reprogram your mind and focus to achieve the life you always imagined for yourself.

Superstar Janet Jackson, whose weight issues have been played out in the public eye for years, says she is co-writing a book about her journey as an emotional eater and body image issues.

More celebrity weight-loss news

True You, which has been in the works for almost two years, also tackles her body image issues, which have haunted her nearly her entire life. The 43-year-old told Harper's Bazaar magazine:

“It was originally about weight loss. But I wanted it to be more about my triggers. I can be an emotional eater. Of late, I have been doing that, yes. It started when I was very little."

And just this week she told The Associated Press she has regained control of "just picking yourself apart all the time because you're so used to being kind of picked apart."

But Janet, there were so many title possibilities other than True You: Control, The Pleasure Principle, Discipline, What Have You Done for Me Lately ... the mind boggles.

There's no release date on the book, but we'll keep our eyes peeled.
