SPOTLIGHT ON TARAJI P. HENSON
TARAJI WITH MOM AND GRANDMOTHER AT THE OSCARS
DC NATIVE TARAJI PENDA HENSON WAS NOMINATED FOR THREE SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARDS NOTABLY FOR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE BY A FEMALE ACTOR IN SUPPORTING ROLE IN THE FILM THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON. HENSON ATTENDED OXON HILL HIGH SCHOOL AS WELL AS HOWARD UNIVERSITY AS A THEATER MAJOR. CLOSE FRIENDS REFER TO HER AS COOKIE. UPON RECENTLY RENTING "TALK TO ME" I DIDN'T NOTICE HOW FUNNY SHE WAS. I LOVED HER FIESTY CHARACTER VERNELL. WHILE AT HOWARD TARAJI WORKED AS A SECRETARY AT THE PENTAGON AND WAS A SINGING WAITRESS ON THE SPIRIT OF WASHINGTON CRUISE. WHILE STILL IN COLLEGE TARAJI GAVE BIRTH TO HER SON MARCELL.
IN PURSUIT OF STARDOM TARAJI LEFT WASHINGTON, DC FOR HOLLYWOOD WITH HER BABY SON. THAT WAS 12 YEARS AGO. WHILE TARAJI ISN'T EXACTLY A NEWCOMER SHE HAS BEEN ACTING STEADILY EVER SINCE SOME HER FILM CREDITS INCLUDE JOHN SINGLETON'S "BABY BOY", "FOUR BROTHERS", "HUSTLE AND FLOW", TYLER PERRY'S "THE FAMILY THAT PREYS", TD JAKES "NOT EASILY BROKEN" AS WELL AS OTHER NOTABLE FILMS AND TV SHOES. WITH SMART CHARACTER ROLES AND BY REFUSING TO BE TYPCAST, TARAJI HAS BLOSSOMED INTO A MEMORABLE AND REMARKABLE ACTRESS.
