Here's the second episode of Milk & Honey, a web series we've been following since its inception that seems to be building a solid and loyal following.

The series was created by Chicago natives Brown Paper Dolls (Dana Gills, Asha Kamali May, and Jeanette McDuffie), and centers on four black women living in Los Angeles, who are on “spiritual, professional and romantic journeys to make their dreams reality.”

It stars Lance Gross, Faune Chambers, Bryce Wilson, Debbie Allen and newcomers Yaani King, Shauntay Hinton, Charles Divins and Rob Smith. Idris Elba is on board as an executive producer.

.“Because we’ve had to survive so many things, there’s this special bond that connects us,” says actress Zoë Saldana (center), 33 of her sisters Cisely (left), 32, a producer, and Mariel (right), 34, a nurse. “We were raised in Queens, New York, until my father passed away when I was 9. Our mom, being a single parent, didn’t want us to grow up in a dangerous place, so she moved us to the Dominican Republic, where we stayed with my grandparents. Our mom would live with us there for one year and then spend one year in New York so she could make money to send back home for us. It’s inconceivable for us to be separated. We have to be around each other 24/7.” And she’s not speaking metaphorically: When Zoë moved to L.A. from New York five years ago to pursue her film career (Avatar, Star Trek), her sisters quickly followed her. These days, they live within nine miles of each other. “I’ll text my mom once a day,” says Zoë. “But my sisters? Every 30 minutes we’re on BlackBerry Messenger.”

CORN CASSEROLE

I TRIED THIS RECIPE FOR THANKSGIVING AND IT CAME OUT VERY GOOD. I WAS VERY HESITANT ABOUT THE JIFFY CORN MIX AS WELL AS THE YOGURT WHEN I PUT IT IN THE OVEN IT WAS VERY RUNNY BUT IN THE END IT CAME OUT DELICIOUS.

Make-Over Corn Casserole



Corn casserole, a cross between of a corn pudding and a corn bread is a wonderful addition to anyone's holiday table.

To lighten this up, I swapped the eggs out for egg whites, replaced the sour cream with fat free Greek yogurt and I used light butter. This was really simple to make, and all my taste testers approved. I think next time I make this I may add a pinch of parmesan cheese, but it was good as is


You can make this ahead and heat it up when you are ready to eat. This is also great reheated the next day for leftovers.

THIS PICTURE REMINDS OF A TOUR WE TOOK IN OCHO RIOS JAMAICA IN A SUV. I SAW MOUNTAINS AND WENT THROUGH A FOREST. SITTING IN THE BACK OF THIS SUV I REMEMBERED THINKING IF THIS DRIVER VEERED OFF JUST A LITTLE TOO MUCH WE WOULD TUMBLE RIGHT OFF THIS ROAD.

IN ALL THE EXCITEMENT AND ADVENTURE AND THE BEAUTIFUL GREENERY OF THIS SMALL ISLAND AFTER A WHILE I COULD ONLY LOOK STRAIGHT AHEAD. I THINK OF A VERSE It's up to God to help us through- as long as we place all our trust and all of our hearts in his care, he will see us through, and make the path we must take clear to us. Instead of a windy path with all kinds of twists and bends, he will make the path straight- it will have a clear path, and we will know without a doubt which way we should go.

AND ALL THE ANXIETY EASED UP AND THE TOUR CAME TO A QUICK END I COULD SAY THAT I EXPERIENCED A GREAT THING BECAUSE AT THE END OF THE WINDY ROAD THE PATH DID BECOME STRAIGHT AND LEAD US TO A FOREST.
